Caribbean Doctors Association

The Caribbean Doctors Association is a non-governmental, independent, non-profit organization with an aim to promote socio-medical interventions, disaster recovery, inter-regional medical and paramedical education and training and more.

The CDA relies on voluntary contributions of expertise, and financial and material contributions from all who are able to assist.

Founded in 2000 in Miami, Florida.


AIMS & OBJECTIVES

  • To promote socio-medical interventions

  • To intervene in times of social crisis, conflict, epidemics and natural or human disasters, in partnership with other organizations

  • To promote inter-regional medical and paramedical education and training

  • To assist and help equip hospitals in the region as required, and promote new techniques related to the evolution of medicine

  • To promote medical exchanges (training, video conferencing, telemedicine, conferences, conventions and other international health meetings etc.)

  • To promote inter-clinical research in various fields related to medicine, in partnership with other scientific organizations.

  • To take over, in certain circumstances, patients requiring inter-island emergency medical evacuation

  • To organize guest speakers at training sessions from external hospitals, totaling 6 per period of 5 days each throughout any one year

  • To arrange for interns to attend seminars and conferences throughout the year.

  • To arrange attachments for interns at sister island hospitals for 24 hour periods.
